Habitat for Humanity: A Worthy Cause We’re Humbly Involved With

Most are aware of the incredible organization known as Habitat for Humanity. If not, this is a worthy cause you’ll want to become familiar (and perhaps get involved) with. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps people in need of housing by providing without profit or interest. For more information about Habitat for Humanity in San Diego, we recommend visiting their website.

The Smith Brother’s team is big on giving back to our local community. While we work extremely hard, we’ve experienced much success, and we feel it’s important to pay it forward by participating in charitable acts to help others in need. The aim of Habitat for Humanity is right up our alley, and we’re very fortunate to have been involved with several of their projects here in San Diego since 2006. Jeff Smith led our team to help build one of seven single story homes on a 1.5-acre lot in Escondido. Several years later the Smith Brothers Team took part in the “Home Builders Blitz” project of 2011, this was a humbling feat. The team worked tirelessly over a five day period to complete two, two-story homes in the Libby Lake Community of Oceanside. But it didn’t end there. They still had three more homes to finish with a very tight deadline; we’re talking only days to complete the project. We were aided by an associate and a team of dedicated volunteers to complete the task of completing the three remaining homes.

This year our team will be participating in several major projects throughout San Diego with Habitat for Humanity, and we couldn’t be more excited. The fact that we can take our skill sets and use them to help those who are in need become homeowners is beyond gratifying. We plan to post updates on the projects as we move forward.

If you’re looking for a charity to become involved with, we highly encourage you to consider volunteering or donating to Habitat for Humanity San Diego. There is a variety of ways in which to get in involved, from volunteering on a project to donating to one of their local ReStores throughout the county. They currently have two ReStores in San Diego, one in Mission Valley, and another in Escondido. Plans to open another ReStore in South San Diego County will also happen this year.
