Innovative Designs for Warmth Because ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’

Having fun in the cold means building a giant snowman or skiing down the slopes. But when it comes to the inside of your home, staying warm becomes a top priority (especially during the holidays). Entertaining and having guests over for Christmas, Hanukkah or New Year’s Eve means you want to keep your loved ones toasty and cozy. Cranking up the heat is one way to raise the temperature but there are some incredibly innovative designs that can warm up your home.

GEOTHERMAL HEATING

A heating system that uses geothermal technology is one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly ways you can heat your home. The traditional forced-air systems that most people have in their homes use the outside air as a factor in heating the house. For example, if it is 40 degrees outside, the furnace has to heat that 40 degree air to 70 degrees to make it warm inside. A geothermal system, on the other hand, uses the stable and constant temperature of the earth as a base to heat up your home. Because the temperature of the earth remains steady, usually between 45 and 75 degrees, it takes significantly less energy to make your home warmer.

RADIANT CEILING PANELS

Radiant ceiling panels can heat your home from above. The panels are mounted on the ceiling and are a great energy-efficient option in a specific room that needs to be warmed up. For instance, if you are hosting a holiday party in your living room, you can heat up the inch-thick panels to 150 degrees within five minutes of turning them on.

WARM FLOORS

Floor heating systems have come a long way since their inception. You can now customize any type of flooring that you have in your home. The system is designed with radiant floor mats that warm the stone, tile, carpeting, hardwood or concrete in your house. You can warm almost any floor and keep your feet happy and dry!

FIREPLACES

Fireplaces add warmth to your home. People love sitting in front of the fire and relaxing. Wood fireplaces are ideal if you want the real feel of a fireplace. Gas fireplaces offer the look of a wood fireplace without the hassle. There are remote control options that make this the ultimate convenient experience. Electric fireplaces plug in easily to an outlet on the wall and start warming in minutes. So easy!

OUTDOOR FIREPLACES

Outdoor fireplaces are one of the hottest design concepts in the housing market today. They create an outdoor space that is fun, functional and can add value to your home. Fireplaces outside can give your patio, deck or backyard a focal point that combines comfort and warmth.

An outdoor fireplace can extend the time you spend outside even longer! It allows you to be outside more months during the year. Living in Southern California, outdoor firepits and fireplaces are ideal for gathering friends and family to spend more time outside. Adding an outdoor fireplace is easy. They can be built in an empty space and transform the area into a stylish and functional place to hang out. Worried an outdoor fireplace will clash with the design aesthetic of your home? Think again! Nowadays, fireplaces can be rustic, traditional, eclectic or modern.
