Backyard Designs That Wow!

If you’ve been dreaming of a backyard that has you eager to get outside and spend all day in the sun, then you should know that now is the best time to start planning. It’s also best to start with a list of items that you want most. Homeowners usually put an entertaining space or a place to have outdoor meals at the top of the list. However, you may want to get a bit more creative. Think how your extended living space can help provide a more enjoyable, relaxing atmosphere with little maintenance. Plus, if you have hobbies, you may want to incorporate those too somehow. Here are some ideas that will have you doing double takes.

Minimalist

If you’re low on time and energy, create a space that allows you to just sit back and relax. Backyard designs for small spaces can easily achieve an upscale modern look with minimal effort. Incorporate a patio space with simple clean lines to plant hedges. The addition of a durable hedge will bring in the green that you desire from the outdoors, but also help with privacy and sound. Add lights and outdoor furniture to help create a tranquil setting.

Sustainability

Trying to maintain a green healthy lawn isn’t always optimum in drought conditions. If you’re not up to the task, then you should think about using drought-tolerant plantings. Using shrubbery with hardscapes allows you to create a fabulous outdoor living space with little maintenance and upkeep. Furthermore, your new oasis will leave minimal burden on Mother Nature.

All Out Entertainment

Entertaining on the weekends can easily get kicked up a notch. If you plan on using your backyard space for entertaining, look for high-end materials like limestone patios and stone or brick column verandas. Add an incredible outdoor dining area and a cozy sitting space. If you can’t miss a game, add an outdoor TV for Sunday relaxing.

Making a Splash

Including a water feature is one of the easiest ways to achieve a calming effect in your backyard. Having a great outdoor pool can also give the kids a place to play and exercise. If you don’t have enough space, consider a beautiful custom fountain or serene pond.

Cool Evenings

If snuggling up to a cozy fire with a glass of wine sounds like pure joy, then you’ll want to incorporate a fireplace or fire pit. If your backyard space is tight, you may want to opt for a fire pit feature versus a fireplace. Include plenty of seating too—everyone will be wanting to roast a marshmallow or two.

The Hobbyist

If you love to cook, plan for the addition of an immaculate outdoor kitchen. Incorporate all of the tools that you need to create those great weekend dishes. Plus, you may even want to incorporate an outdoor oven. An outdoor pizza oven can add a special flare to your weekend parties. Include spaces for beautiful edible gardens for fresh organic ingredients. Creating fabulous flatbread and homemade pizzeria style dishes will have guests beckoning to come back.

If cooking isn’t your thing but gardening is, plan on integrating your favorite plants and shrubs that bring in a splash of color year-round. Design your space so that water conservation is incorporated as well. Doing so can maximize your space to include those flowers that you love to use for fresh cutting floral designs. Have your architect include a space where you can tuck away a bench or seating in order to enjoy your spectacular views and visiting wildlife.
