Functional Kitchens…That Are Gorgeous!
The desire for a gorgeous kitchen doesn’t negate the need for functionality. In fact, beauty and function go hand in hand, and should be a top priority, when it comes to home design and construction. Melding these two elements together cohesively and seamlessly are what make for great design. When working with a client on a remodel or new home build, we take their lifestyle into account when coming up with a design. This will be their personal space so it needs to accommodate how they’ll maneuver within it.
Here are some kitchens our team has had the pleasure of working on that incorporate gorgeous design, and innovative function.
More Than an Island
The kitchen island has become almost a “must” for kitchen enthusiasts. While the extra counter top space is paramount for meal preparation, the kitchen island can also act as a useful spot for added storage, extra sinks, and even a bar top with stools, which can be really a nice perk for busy families and those who like to entertain.
Cabinets that REALLY Utilize the Space Wisely
Cabinets can really be utilized wisely in a kitchen space to really maximize desired storage space. Not only for pantry items and appliances, but also for regular glass and dish ware versus the ones you might only want to use for special occasions.
This kitchen is grand, and it needed to be for this family! The need for a bright and open concept (to keep the stunning view!) was maintained, while cabinetry was added in all the right places to accommodate necessary storage for added functionality.
The Cape Cod kitchen below brought form and function together so beautifully, and seamlessly. At first glance, while it is gorgeous, you might not realize the full storage potential of this charming kitchen space. But wait for it… as you scroll down you’ll see what we mean.
The island has so much function built into it. A secondary sink for rinsing fruits and vegetables is ideally situated in the wood block style countertop. The side end neatly organizes cookbooks, and the additional slide out drawers allow for additional pantry storage.
But it gets better! The columns that sit on either side of the stove neatly conceal two sliding spice drawers. They fit so comfortably within the design of the space while offering such an added aesthetic to the overall design style. Yet they so seamlessly offer ease and function for those much needed items that are now conveniently located within the immediate vicinity.
When it comes to designing a gorgeous kitchen that incorporates function, it’s imperative that you work with a design and construction team that really aim to understand who you are on a personal level, how you (and your family) function, and take into account what your overall style preference is.
